Cristina Fletes-Mach

Cristina is the Visual Communications Specialist at St. Louis Public Radio, handling a variety of visual media from illustration to product design to photo and video. She was previously a videographer for Saint Louis University and St. Louis County. She is a former Staff Photographer / Videographer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She was a part of the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography awarded to the photography staff at the Post-Dispatch for their coverage of the unrest in Ferguson, Mo. 

She received her B.F.A. from Louisiana State University in 2009 where she majored in Studio Art with a concentration in Photography. After receiving her Master's in Visual Communication from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Cristina worked as a Video Journalist Intern at The Washington Post, a Multimedia Intern at NPR, a Photojournalist Intern at The Durham Herald-Sun and as an Adjunct Professor of Visual Communication at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Her work has been recognized by Pictures of the Year International, College Photographer of the Year, North Carolina Press Photographer's Association, the Southern Short Course and the Missouri Press Association. She is an alumna of the Eddie Adams Workshop Class of XXVI.

She is co-founder and designer for RaĆ­ces STL, an apparel company which seeks to uplift the Latino community with style through positive messaging.

She lives in St. Louis with the best husband, stepkids and weirdo cats that anyone could ever ask for. She is also an avid painter (@cristinafm.studio on IG) and a fan of many a podcast.
